Olfactive Description: Woody, Earthy, Dry, Herbal

A distinctive, earthy scent, Patchouli, pogostemon cablin, is a fragrant plant in the mint family; the leaves are steam distilled to produce our earthy Patchouli (Dark) essential oil. Dark patchouli has a richer, longer lasting scent than light patchouli. In handmade blends, we recommend using it as a base note; however, it stands on its own without the use of other essential oils.

We recommend this essential oil for use in ambience-setting candles, wax melts, tarts, and reed diffusers. It also performs well in bar and liquid soap, scrubs, and lotion.

Candle Maker’s Notes:
We’ve found that this essential oil has a medium hot throw in candles, rating two leaves out of three on our soy performance scale. When lit, candles made with this essential oil produce a pleasant, earthy scent.

We experienced a very slight amount of acceleration and no separation. We stick blended to a medium trace and, initially, it poured smoothly into the mold but we noticed it started to stiffen toward the end. We were able to tamp the mold on the counter a few times to smooth it out. After 24 hours, we observed the soap discolored to a light tan and reached a partial gel. The scent was very strong. After 30 days, the soap discolored tan and the scent remained strong.

Beat Seller!

I have people asking for this and I JUST bought it! I'm here buying another because they love it so much! It does darken my wax color a bit, but it doesn't really matter does it? My customers love it and it smells phenomenal in coconut wax! HT and CT are equally pleasing. Great job!

Smells wonderful!

OOB This patchouli is exactly what I look for in this essential oil. It has an earthy sweet deep scent to it and is very pleasant. Used it in cold process soap and the scent seems to hold very well so far. Would and will buy it again!

Discolored my cp soap

I've made recipes mostly from fragrance oils by CS, but for this one... it was the new essential oil and my cold process soap looked nice after demolding. After a few months, they turned near super dark tan. I mixed about a tsp patchouli e.o. + 5% of CS fragrance oil Bamboo & Coconut to a pound of soap oils in a recipe. In the beginning it looked very delicate, yellowish and luxurious since I had yellow mica powder as well (the usual color I used in prev recipes). Unfortunately it spoiled the color and scent after a few months of curing. Similarly, I mixed dark patchouli with CS Strawberry Cheesecake f.o. and it did the same thing. It spoiled the color and scent after a few months curing. I regret having to pay this expensive ingredient that ruined my CP soap batches.
