Golden Santal Fragrance Oil
Choose a Variant

Looking for something sensual? Golden Santal is a complex fragrance oil inspired by Le Labo’s cult favorite fragrance Santal 33. This scent has a strong base of sandalwood and musk that some of us found nostalgic, woody, warm, and alluring, while others found it outright naughty. In fact, we almost called it Naughty Santal.

In finished products, subtle top notes of fennel, ginger, and cardamom accentuate mid notes of rich amber, cedar, clover, and lavender. We’ve found that out of the bottle (OOB), this scent smells slightly sweeter than in the finished product.

Upscale home decor or luxury lines would benefit from the addition of this scent. It performs well in candles, melts, and tarts and also makes tantalizing soaps, lotions, and scrubs.

This fragrance is infused with essential oils, including cedarwood, patchouli, eucalyptus, elemi, carrot seed, cedar, coriander, clove leaf, nutmeg, fennel, caraway, orange sweet, and pine.

Blends well with: Toasted Coconut, Apricot Grove, Fig Tree, Rose and OudAutumn Glow

Alternative branding ideas: Santal, Naughty Santal, Sandalwood and Cedar, Sandalwood Cashmere

Suggested colors: Light Tan, Light Yellow

We experienced slight acceleration but no separation. The oils and water were slow to come to an emulsion, but we found as soon as a stable emulsion was reached the batter began to thicken slightly. We continued stick blending to a medium trace and the batter stayed fluid. As we started to pour into the mold we found the soap was thickening quickly. After 24 hours, there was no discoloration and the scent was strong. Initially there did not appear to be any sign of gel phase, but after fully curing we were able to determine that all but the corners gelled. After 30 days there was no discoloration. The scent remained quite strong.

Warm, creamy, spicy, comforting scent

I quite like the smell of this fragrance oil OOB. The strongest note I smell is that of almonds - though it’s not listed in the description. To me, it smells like creamy almonds mixed with all the listed spice notes and a soft, barely there sandalwood note. I do not know what the original Le Labo Santal 33 smells like but it is one of those niche scents that people either like or don’t like. I perceive this fragrance oil the same way - it’s a lovely, comforting, cozy, and sultry scent that will have polarizing effects on people. I see this doing well in candles, room/linen sprays, and body mists. I have not tested it in any formulation yet.

Smells incredible!

For those saying that this smells nothing like Santal 33, I disagree. I don't think i've smelled other "inspired scents" that get this close to the scent. This is so beautiful; woody and masculine, yet very feminine. I always felt like Santal 33 would be better as a candle instead of a scent I want on my body. I do need help with getting a hot throw for soy wax!! Any suggestions?

perfect

I made this fragrance myself at home after smelling a now discontinued perfume on a person. I haven't been able to find my original recipe yet, it's somewhere. This scent is the exact replica. Thank you!

Santal 33

Smells like Santal 33 to me. This is a good dupe. The key word is inspired.

Love this

I love love the way this smells. It's masculine, woody and sensual. This is exactly the type of scents my candle demographic goes for. It's really hard to find anything like this. Most masculine scents smell either like body wash or cologne. I wish there was more options for scents like this. As much as I love it, I still can't justify paying almost double the price though.
