Olfactive Description: Fresh Lemon, Green, Grassy

Grassy and lemon fresh, Litsea Cubeba is an uplifting essential oil. Made from the fruit of the litsea cubeba, the steam distillation process produces a fragrant lemony, green, and fresh essential oil with grassy notes. This essential oil is also known as May Chang and originates from China and South East Asia.

We recommend this essential oil for use in candles, wax melts, and tarts. It also makes cheerful bar and liquid soap, scrubs, lotion, and perfume. An added bonus, this fresh scent performs well in reed diffusers, too.

Candle Maker’s Notes:
A top performing essential oil in soy wax, we found this Litsea Cubea to have a strong hot throw in soy wax that highlights the lemon accords.

Lye Water Temperature 110ºF (43.3°C)

We did not experience any acceleration or separation. We stick blended to a medium trace and it poured smoothly into the mold. After 24 hours, we observed the soap discolored to yellow and had almost reached a full gel. The scent was strong. After 30 days, the soap discolored to a dark yellow and the scent remained strong.

Great lemon scented EO

464 wax, 5% EO, really great HT. CT is actually pretty weak, but that seems to be one main difference between the EO's and fragrance. This smells more lemony than the actual lemon EO. It's more of a sweet lemon--reminds me of lemonheads actually.

Sweet Citrus

I'm not making candles with my essential oils, so I can't speak to that, but on its own in a soap/body base blend this is a lovely sweet lemony scent.

Love it but seems to have faded after 4 weeks

It handled very well in CP, no acceleration or discoloration. I love this scent and very popular just by itself. Though, the scent has faded drastically after 4 weeks which is disappointing.

Great scent, but...

The scent is very pleasant! Very similar to the CS Lemon Verbena fragrance oil.

I realllllly wanted to like this - I made candles at 8% load in 464, and burning this gave me a headache that I've never experienced with the fragrance oils. I'm sure it may help if I reduced the fragrance load to 6%, but I don't think I'd be comfortable bringing this into my line.

No need for CS to reach out. Good luck all!
