Nordic Night Fragrance Oil
Choose a Variant

Visions of snow-covered pines and arctic winds filled our minds when we created Nordic Night fragrance oil. An outdoor, wintery scent, Nordic Night bottles a winter’s night chill with top notes of eucalyptus and lavender. Resinous pine is at the heart of this scent, and it rests on an herbal, woody base of rosemary, cedar, and oakmoss that performs well in candles and melts. Approved for body scrubs, lotions, and soap, Nordic Night rounds out wintery product lines.

This fragrance oil is infused with natural essential oils including pine, cypress, eucalyptus, cedarwood, cinnamon bark, cardamom, lavandin, rosemary, cade, cistus extract, guaicwood, and clove bud.

Blend recommendations: Very Vanilla, Fireside, Morrocan Cashmere, Clean Cotton

Alternative branding ideas: Winter, Iced Balsam, Sleigh Ride

Suggested colors: Natural, Midnight Blue, Light Blue

Lye Water Temperature 115ºF (46.1°C)
Oil Temperature 118ºF (47.8°C)

We did not experience any acceleration or separation. The oils and water were slow to reach a light trace and there was no sign of thickening or stiffening as we poured the batter into the mold. After 24 hours we observed the soap only reached a partial gel through the center. We noticed the areas that did gel were weepy. There was a slight pale yellow discoloration and the scent was strong. After 30 days, there was no discoloration and the scent remained strong. We’re not sure why the bars were so weepy after the initial cut but the bars finished nice and hard.

This is a best seller

This scent is super unique. I did a triple blend with this scent. My customers love it & I can’t keep this in stock. Just ordered another bottle. Highly recommend winter for any winter line.

Excellent crisp scent

If you are looking for a crisp scent that is strong, but not over whelming, this is a good scent. Love how it smells in 464 soy wax, and is one of my favorites so far. Actually matches the scent of walking on a winter night, which is nice.
Make sure to mix well, and I mean well, in the wax other wise you have a candle where you don't smell it until middle of candle...
Pros:
Strong scent-also can be a con
matches the name well
pleasant smelling

cons:
due to being a stronger scent, make absolute sure you test amounts, can become overpowering if used wrong
The only real issue I had with it was my own fault, made an 11oz container but didn't get measurement right at first and had to light of a scent, but that's my error.

Tricky in Cold Process Soap

If you're making cold process soap, be ready to move quickly!

I was making kaleidoscope soap with this FO. I'd just used the same recipe twice prior within the same day, so I'm 100% this was the fragrance and not the recipe. The recipe is made to be slow moving. 1300 g of oil - olive oil, sunflower oil, shea butter, mango butter, and coconut oil. You can blend the heck out of this recipe and it's not going to get thick unless you soap above 120. With Nordic Night, I soaped about 108F. When the FO was added to the batter, you could straight up SEE the batter accelerating as the FO hit it. It was pretty neat, but also a big ol' uh-oh moment.

I was prepped already for kaleidoscope soap, so we divided it into three containers, pulsed once for color, and globbed it into the mold. Couldn't do thin layers because it was basically soap on a stick, but we did manage to get the soap in the mold and yank the kaleidoscope tool out. Still made pretty soap. If I hadn't have had a second set of hands, I'm not sure I would have made it, though.

So, in short, be ready to work very, very quickly. I think you could pull off some nice layers with this fragrance if you plan well. I'll use this FO again, just not for any intricate design work.

Scent retention two days after making it is okay. I used 4% FO and will bump to 5% next time.
